ODE更实用主义，贴合当下，释义大致是主义在先，引申义按使用频率依次分布。
OED更侧重依时间顺序收录词义，可以看到一个词历史上的大量的曾用义以及过时用法，读英语文学作品会有用。
通俗来讲，对一个词来说，ODE是“我是我，我是什么 ？”OED则更像“我的过去，现在，是什么样子 ？”
二者都归属于母语词典，但ODE对非母语者比较友好。个人日常使用比较喜欢OALD9+ODE，但有空会对应查看OED看看。
